I am a qualified and highly experienced teacher of English that has taught at top schools in both London and Surrey for over 6 years. I have an excellent understanding of the AQA GCSE exam board and mark scheme for both English Literature and English Language. I have a proven track record of supporting GCSE students to achieve top grades, with many exceeding them for both Lit and Lang. I am also able to provide students with revision sheets where appropriate. I can provide excellent support for students in y7 and y8 to run alongside what is currently being studied by a student in school, or can create bespoke sessions to focus on key areas that your child may need additional support in, including reading and comprehension, SPAG, creative writing and structuring of analytical writing. For y9 students I run sessions that offer an introduction and insight to the AQA GCSE syllabus, with tasks based on the skills required for the exam papers but suited to the ability and level of the younger students.

How would you describe your teaching style?

Student led and relaxed. I believe that building a rapport and mutual respect and understanding for both tutor and tutee is really important to help anyone achieve their best. What is your personal message to students?

English Language is the key to unlock your future. Even if you don’t wish to pursue further education / a career specifically in the field of English you still need it in your everyday life! From composing an email, to writing a covering letter and CV... to an Instagram caption! Reading doesn’t have to be sitting down with a copy of a Dickens novel every night for an hour, it can be fun! Perhaps an autobiographical story from an inspirational sports hero, or a series of short stories from an ex lawyer, or a blog post by a professor... there are many ways to access interesting and inspiring stories that can help support you in your own writing and understanding, I’m here to help you find it!
