As an experienced primary teacher of 22 years (a headteacher for 9 of these), I have returned to working more directly with students in my semi-retirement as teaching has always been my main passion. I offer tailored tuition in all subjects in the primary curriculum, specialising in securing good understanding of basic skills in English and Maths for students from 5 to 14. I aim to enthuse and engage students in their own learning. I can also work with schools and class teachers if preferred to ensure continuity. My expertise includes phonics, reading / reading comprehension, spelling and writing. For those who need more support, I offer adapted teaching methods to ensure progress. In Maths, I offer tuition in all aspects including problem solving. I can adapt my approach and techniques to those who need more visual or practical methods or to those who need to consolidate their learning using technology. My success rate in enabling students to reach their potential by expanding and applying their skills and knowledge across the curriculum and in preparing for national tests (SATs) is excellent. I offer 11+ tuition and so far all my students (100%) have achieved a good pass in tests.
