Looking for a caring, exciting, and knowledgeable tutor for your child? Well you've found me! Currently working in project management for a children's charity, I am a seasoned tutor, with considerable experience working with children between the ages of 5 -16 and an Enhanced Child DBS. I have spent over 7 years working directly with children and young adults, including in numerous tutoring roles, across countries. This has enabled me to see the wonderful minds that they have and learn the best ways for bringing out their potential. I take a child-centred approach to tutoring, which means that I'll use the particular passions and interests of your child to motivate them on whatever subject we're studying. I also bring that balance of focus and fun to each session to ensure that your child enjoys their time. Furthermore, I am a multilingual individual, who has lived in lots of different countries and worked for high-level organisations like the United Nations and The British Government. This means that I will bring a varied and exciting approach to tutoring, as well as some unique understandings and experiences that other tutors won't! Finally as a member of MENSA from age 14 with a BA (first) in International Relations and Politics from the University of Sheffield and a Masters Degree (Distinction) from University College London, you can rest assured that your child will receive the highest standard of learning, through tailored and considered tutoring from me.
How would you describe your teaching style?
Fun but focused! From my experience I've learned that no matter how much you want a child to learn something, they tend to be much more motivated and engaged if you make it fun. This can be through stimulating and exciting resources, lively discussions around the topic or incentivising them through agreed ways. I would further characterise my teaching style as 'personal'. Children, like adults, like to know they're being listened to and that their particular interests and passions are being considered. That's why i take the time to really learn what makes each child tick and use that as the basis for motivating and inspiring them during our tutoring, as well as building a strong relationship between myself and them.
