I am an experienced and enthusiastic educator in the areas of psychology, health studies (incl. public health and global health), research methods (incl. qualitative and quantitative), and academic skills (incl. writing, presenting, and studying). I received a BSc (Hons.) in Experimental Psychology (1st Class) and PhD from the University of Bristol, and a MPH from University of Manchester (Distinction). I am a Chartered Psychologist and Associate Fellow with the British Psychological Society, a Fellow of the Royal Society for Public Health, and an Associate Fellow of the Higher Education Academy, I have taught at undergraduate, postgraduate, and doctoral level at the Universities of Bristol, Dundee, Ghent, And St Andrews. In addition, I have supervised and assessed undergraduate, postgraduate, and PhD/MD projects/dissertations. I have also lead a research group exploring issues pertaining to violence, alcohol, and mental health. In this regard I have published a number of papers in academic journals and book chapters, and was awarded the inaugural Elizabeth Russell Prize by the Faculty of Public Health (Scotland). Finally, I have experience of working in industry, having worked at HP Labs, Bristol (2006-2007); undertaken consultancy at Smiths Aerospace (2003) and GE Aviation (2008); and collaborated with Qinetiq (2008).
How would you describe your teaching style?
I adopt a coaching approach to my teaching to support learners to adopt an inquisitive mindset to subject matter. This will include learning from mistakes, which is a natural part of learning and a valuable source of information.

Tell us about your experience...
I have over 15 years experience of teaching universities, starting when I was a PhD researcher where I was employed as a (lab) demonstrator and marker (lab reports and assignments). I have taught at the universities of Bristol, Dundee, Ghent, and St Andrews.
What locations do you tutor in?
I mainly tutor online, but am willing to travel within Fife and Dundee to undertake face-to-face sessions (plus travel expenses).
What is your personal message to students?
I am an enthusiastic tutor, who will tailor their approach to best suit your learning preference. I believe in active learning, rather than passive learners, and try to inject some fun into session.
