Hi! My name is Chris Boocock, I am 31 and based in Rochester in Medway. I have spent 4 years as a Primary School Teacher and then took some time out to do an IT Masters. During my time teaching I was graded 'Outstanding' by Ofsted and built a great reputation within the school I taught at. My particular passion is teaching literacy and reading and I love finding new ways to innovate to ensure children gain true understanding. When I have tutored previously, both privately and leading support sessions in schools, I have always gained great results. This is through my use of modern day technology to present learning in a new...and fun way! In my opinion, if a teaching method is fun and memorable, then learning takes place in a far more effective manner. I have experience tutoring from year 1 to year 6 and look forward to hearing from potential students, together we can achieve great results!
How would you describe your teaching style?
Teaching and learning has to be fun and engaging. If learning is not fun and engaging, no learning will take place! We are lucky that we live in a 21st century where technology can be used as a teaching aid, and in my opinion this is crucial for effective learning. So many children engage with technology, it makes perfect sense for it to be harnessed within their education, and this is what I like to employ in my tutoring style.
What qualifications do you have?
PGCE in Primary School teaching from Cambridge University. 4 years teaching experience at Wormley Primary School in Hertfordshire during which time I was graded outstanding.
Tell us about your experience...
I have spent 4 years teaching at Wormley Primary School in Hertfordshire during which time I was graded outstanding on several occasions both my Ofsted and my peers. During this time I was ICT co-ordinator and was instrumental in bringing in the new computing curriculum and seeing how modern technology was shaping the future of education. I taught 3 years in year 3, and 1 year in year 4. On top of this I led booster groups for Sats in Year 6 gaining exceptional results with the children I mentored.
What locations do you tutor in?
Rochester, Chatham and Strood.
What is your personal message to students?
Quite simply, learning should be fun and engaging. Through my teaching methods, learning is brought to life and becomes relevant in a 21st Century society. You will make progress in your learning if I tutor you, simply because I am excited about learning and love passing off this enthusiasm to my students.
