I am a 20-year-old enthusiastic, experienced tutor studying at Durham University. I am passionate about teaching and I love helping people to understand and develop their own ideas- I find tutoring an extremely rewarding job. I have been tutoring and mentoring students since I was in school; for a year I tutored a GCSE Further Maths student and a GCSE History student whilst studying for my A-levels. I am currently tutoring 12 students, ranging in age from 6-18, in A-Level Maths and PE, GCSE/IGCSE Maths, History, English and PE and Primary English and Maths. Achieving 3 A*s in my A-Levels and straight A*s in my GCSEs means that I know the curriculums very well and know how to answer exam questions. I have found that being a young tutor has its benefits, as being of a closer age to the student enables me to relate to them easily and they often feel less pressured and more open to ask questions to someone of a more similar age. My experience of tutoring has enabled me to adapt to different teaching styles appropriate for different students and find varied delivery methods, as I understand that everyone learns differently.
How would you describe your teaching style?
I can conduct lessons either online or face-to-face. I will go through examples/ knowledge with the student, and take them through some example questions. Then I will ask them to complete some themselves, and finally if they are able, I will give them an exam question to complete. I also set homework weekly.
What qualifications do you have?
I am studying at Durham University. I achieved one A* and 2As in my A-Levels in History, Maths and PE respectively I achieved an A in my AS-Level English Literature I achieved 12 A*-A grades at GCSE
