Taxman clamps down on private tutors

Private Tutoring News October 2011

Back in July 2012, The Tutor Website reported that HMRC were targeting private tutors who weren't declaring their income.  A new article published by the Telegraph confirms this as it highlights HMRC's plans to target private tutors, private music teachers and fitness instructors.

Under HMRC’s new Tax Catch-up Plan (TCP), it has given tutors until the end of March 2012 to come forward and declare their outstanding tax from April 2010.

Under HMRC's plan, those who come forward by this deadline will receive “the best possible terms” for paying the overdue tax.
