I taught English/English Literature at KS3, GCSE and A Level for 33 years and have worked as a WJEC team leader for English Language for over 20 years. I also mark WJEC GCSE English Literature. The team leader role has given me an in depth knowledge of and insight into the skill-sets needed to succeed at GCSE level. Team leader meetings involve sampling responses at each mark level, as well as in other an interrogation of these and the mark scheme itself so I have a profound understanding of what is needed for each question. My sessions are focused entirely on examination technique, what examiners are looking for in responses and how to construct effective, detailed answers in examinations. I have a proven record of success and can provide students with an effective toolkit that they can use when faced with daunting examinations, as well as the confidence that they have been prepared for every possible question which might arise. I try to inject humour and enthusiasm into my sessions and have always had excellent relationships with students at school and when tutoring.
