I have 25 years of teaching experience during which I have taught across the primary age range in a variety of schools. I currently teach part-time in an SEN unit that is attached to a mainstream school - our focus being to help our students back into their mainstream classes. Our students have a range of needs, predominately Autism Spectrum Condition and Sensory Processing Disorders ( though I have also worked with children who have Down's Syndrome, Dyslexia, Attachment Disorders) I have developed a vast range of strategies for meeting the needs of these learners. I am very used to planning and delivering lessons on a 1:1 basis; working out the barriers that slow down learning and seeking ways to overcome them is part of my daily practice.

Hello, I am a fully qualified teacher and tutor. I have been working, both in the classroom and as a tutor, for nearly 10 years. I strongly believe that every single child has the right to an education. I know that how they receive that education can have a huge impact on their self belief. I know that 1-1 tutoring or in small groups, can really help boost a child’s confidence. The school environment isn’t always right for every child so I can also support those children who homeschool. I have a particular interest in helping children with maths- and I am hoping, in the near future, to begin training to be a Dyscalculia specialist teacher. Meanwhile, I am studying the subject and I am learning how to better support children in Maths.

All children have the right to an education and that can look different for different children. Outdoor learning is all about adventurous activities, environmental education, team challenges and learning through play. Research shows that outdoor learning sessions can not only have a positive impact on their academic achievement but also can improve their cognitive, social, emotional and physical health. It can also educate children on sustainable development and allow to them to become responsible citizens and appreciate nature. Outdoor learning not only has the positive impacts mentioned above but also allows children to become active on a regular basis. Research shows that only 43% of children and young people lead active lives. Physically active children and young people are proven to be happier, more resilient and more socially trusting. At Exoeco Education, we aim to take learning sessions to an environment that suits the needs of the individual child/group of children. At Exoeco Education, we are proud to be qualified, experienced Teachers who are truly passionate about getting the best out of individual children. Tutoring sessions will be planned following free introductory discussions with parents/carers and children to ensure that the sessions delivered meet the needs (academically) and learning styles of the individual child. Discussions will currently be held online given the situation with Covid-19. In light of the current lockdown, we are currently only offering one-to-one tutor sessions and would strongly encourage that these are outdoor learning sessions, to allow for a socially distanced and safe learning environment.

Home tutoring over a digital platform can be a great way to boost your child's confidence and ability whilst away from their usual classroom environment. I am offering tutoring online for primary school pupils or children of an older age who need a confidence boost for when they return to school. I use a digital learning environment to my advantage to make the sessions interactive and fun. I use Zoom as standard, but I am happy to adapt to other platforms that parents feel comfortable with. I can help children with home learning tasks they have been set or additional teaching to assist with any areas they would like additional support with. By building trust and confidence, I am able to guide children through more challenging work without the fear of failure. Over the years, I have built up a range of teaching strategies and resources to support children's learning that suits the individual. By taking the time to find out what the child's goals and motivations are, I can then tailor the lessons to suit their individual interests. I am calm, patient and encouraging teacher who praises often using positive behaviour reinforcement throughout the lessons.

I have been working as a Prep school teacher from 2013. Some of my new innovative ideas added value to the learning process of the children: Y4 were learning about a village in India so I organised an interactive SKYPE session with a village school in India to enrich their learning outside the classroom. The children were thrilled by this experience where they could get answers to many of their questions. I also organised Interhouse Geography quiz competition, Interschool Geography quiz competition to enrich the children’s enthusiasm for the subject. Geography in News lunch time club to create a weekly message board helped the children to update themselves with the current affairs and other interesting Geography facts. Bought EDINA Digi maps for school to introduce Digi map skills for the children at KS2. In addition to my teaching duties, I would be able to fulfil extracurricular expectations also. In recent years I have contributed to the school website, have helped develop enrichment policies, and organised an international Evening along with the Head boy team to support the diversity at the school. I would also like to add to the extracurricular activities by running new initiatives or assisting existing societies.
