A little extra help goes a long way - As an experienced and highly effective Primary school teacher for the past 27 years, I am seeking to offer my skills and expertise as a private tutor on a more permanent basis. I have taught online and in school throughout the pandemic and I am very aware of the great need for safe, catch-up education at this time. Also, being a qualified personal performance coach, has further enabled me to successfully support students in exam preparation and revision too. I am a 20-year-old enthusiastic, experienced tutor studying at Durham University. I am passionate about teaching and I love helping people to understand and develop their own ideas- I find tutoring an extremely rewarding job. I have been tutoring and mentoring students since I was in school; for a year I tutored a GCSE Further Maths student and a GCSE History student whilst studying for my A-levels. I am currently tutoring 12 students, ranging in age from 6-18, in A-Level Maths and PE, GCSE/IGCSE Maths, History, English and PE and Primary English and Maths. Achieving 3 A*s in my A-Levels and straight A*s in my GCSEs means that I know the curriculums very well and know how to answer exam questions. I have found that being a young tutor has its benefits, as being of a closer age to the student enables me to relate to them easily and they often feel less pressured and more open to ask questions to someone of a more similar age. My experience of tutoring has enabled me to adapt to different teaching styles appropriate for different students and find varied delivery methods, as I understand that everyone learns differently.

Having qualified as a Primary School Teacher in 2011, I have experiencing of teaching across both Key Stage 1 and 2 and preparing students for SATS, 11+ and entrance exams. I believe in making learning fun and relatable to each individual and in turn memorable. I am confident teaching any area of the primary curriculum with a particular specialism in maths. I’m also passionate about using technology to enhance the teaching and learning process and if possible would place this at the heart of my teaching. Prior to the tutoring commencing, I believe it is important to talk with the child to find out what makes them tick and from there develop a way of learning that suits them and enables us to achieve the best outcomes. I’m happy to travel and find a time that suits both parties but most importantly find a time where that suits the individual.

Helen is a vibrant, enthusiastic tutor who places emphasis on tutee’s confidence and relationship to education within her structured lessons. She works hard to enable students to think independently and creatively and most importantly, to enjoy their extra study time outside of school. Helen tailors her lessons and teaching style to each individual tutee’s needs ensuring that they can make the most out of the lesson. She has helped several students pass various exams including gaining places on the highly competitive English bilingual program at the Lysee International de Londres. Having been through the 11+ system herself (and gaining scholarships to several schools) Helen understands the pressure and stress of the application and the best ways to make it as enjoyable as possible for tutees and parents alike. She is also experienced teaching SEN, having several long term relationships with dyslexic, dyspraxic and autistic students. Helen specialises in English, exam prep and general study support. She has been a visiting tutor at many educational establishments, including the Pippa Poppins nursery in West London and so has experience teaching across all ages. Hi! My name is Chris Boocock, I am 31 and based in Rochester in Medway. I have spent 4 years as a Primary School Teacher and then took some time out to do an IT Masters. During my time teaching I was graded 'Outstanding' by Ofsted and built a great reputation within the school I taught at. My particular passion is teaching literacy and reading and I love finding new ways to innovate to ensure children gain true understanding. When I have tutored previously, both privately and leading support sessions in schools, I have always gained great results. This is through my use of modern day technology to present learning in a new...and fun way! In my opinion, if a teaching method is fun and memorable, then learning takes place in a far more effective manner. I have experience tutoring from year 1 to year 6 and look forward to hearing from potential students, together we can achieve great results!
