I am a qualified teacher based in St Helens, Merseyside, currently teaching Mathematics and Further Mathematics at a private college. I obtained a 2:1 degree in Pure Mathematics from the University of Liverpool and then completed my PGCE in Secondary Mathematics. I have an enhanced DBS certificate and I am available to tutor A-level Mathematics, A-level Further Mathematics and undergraduate Mathematics. I am able to tutor within a 10 mile radius of St Helens, my hometown, and I am possibly available near Manchester city centre where I work. I am also able to offer online tuition meaning you will need a microphone and internet connection. Online tuition is proving popular with students due to its efficiency and flexibility. Teaching on a one-to-one basis means that the individual needs of the student need to be met. I strive to get the best out of each student and work towards developing the students understanding, allowing them to see the progress they are making and in turn building their confidence. Please note: A-level is charged at £35 per hour and GCSE is charged at £30 per hour. Most university modules are charged at £40 per hour, although some second and third year modules are £50 per hour depending on the level of difficulty.

I am 24 years old, and am currently training to be an Actuary for a Global General Insurance firm in the City of London. Before my current role, I was a Cyber Security Consultant for PwC. I am a straight A student: achieving 7A* and 4As in my GCSEs, A*A*A (Maths, Chemistry, Biology) in A levels and a 1st Class degree in Mathematics from the University of Birmingham. I came from a state school where less than 50% of the students achieved a grade C in their GCSE mathematics - so I taught a lot of maths myself using the school textbook, learning the best and most efficient ways of studying maths. I will also be able available throughout the week to answer any questions that you are stuck on via message - you don’t have to wait until our session. I don’t take on many students at any one time in order to ensure that I put full attention into the ones that I currently do have. So please do reach out before spaces are fully taken up!

My lessons are geared towards those in Primary and KS3. I can also offer GCSE tutoring as I took my GCSE in the New Grading system in 2018. My teaching style is very flexible and I will devise a separate lesson plan based on each student according to what they are learning and what they feel they are struggling with. I am also able to provide many resources, such as revision cards and worksheets. During these uncertain times, I'm able to assist with online work set by teachers and set additional work to ensure the students are where they should be when school returns. I have previously tutored many students in Maths, Science, History and English. I have been tutoring for 4 years and those that I have tutored have performed extremely well in their end of year assessments in KS3.

Having completed my degree in Physics I worked in London as a educational consultant and academic mentor and have now transitioned to tutoring full-time. I studied Maths, Further Maths, Physics and Chemistry at Eton College before moving to St Catherine's College, Oxford University to study Physics and have tutored for the last 5 years alongside my academic studies. My approach to tutoring is to encourage my students to share in my love of the subjects I teach and so want to strive to improve. I have a calm, measured approach to lessons and with an extensive knowledge of how the sciences and maths fit together am able to tailor lessons to a level my students feel comfortable at, improving their grades as well as well as developing their enjoyment of learning for its own sake. I am available for online tuition and have a fully setup to deliver this in the most effective manner possible. I find that online tuition works best for both myself and my students as the notes and lessons are stored electronically thereby allowing easy review. Maths/Physics/Oxbridge admissions I studied at Cambridge for a total of eight years, from a BA in Natural Sciences to an MSci and a PhD in Materials Science. I also gained extensive experience teaching undergraduates in Materials Science through the Cambridge supervision system (small-group or sometimes one-on-one teaching). I have also interviewed candidates for Cambridge undergraduate admission. I captained the St John’s College, Cambridge team to victory in the 2017-18 series of University Challenge, which remains one of my proudest achievements! Through these experiences, I have developed a range of strategies for different types of learning from rote-memorisation to giving a framework to abstract concepts – strategies which can help any student.

I am an experienced (18 years) secondary school teacher, and currently teach KSs 3, 4 and 5 at a highly regarded selective school in North London. I have also been an examiner for many years, more recently progressing to the Team Leader role, supervising a team of eight other examiners. I am available to tutor Maths and Further Maths AS/A level only. The first lesson is free, at which point we can jointly decide if I can help you. I only plan to take on two or three students at any one time in order to ensure quality individual attention while ensuring my other work commitments are not neglected. I cannot tutor current students at my school.
