I'm a recently-retired Assistant Head with 40 years' experience in Years 4-6. Alongside being a class teacher, I was responsible for curriculum design and assessment. I also led English throughout the school. This means I am fully aware of the requirements of the national curriculum and can tailor teaching to individual needs. I have had many years' experience in preparing children for 11+, independent school exams and KS2 SATs. SATs results at my school were regularly above the national average, despite mixed-ability classes.I offer private tuition sessions at my home for all external examinations, together with general support and confidence-building in all areas of English and Maths for children needing that extra little boost in Years 4-6. Fees are payable half-termly in advance.

I am a qualified teacher QTS PGCE BSc Hons. I have taught in Nottinghamshire and Derbyshire Local Education Schools. . I have sucessfully tutored many students in their SATs, year exams, mocks, GCSE's and A Levels. (Successfully means that my tutees have boosted their grades at examination). There are excellent feedback reviews for my tutoring programmes and success of students on several tuition websites on my profiles (these websites also have my references). In the normal school world I travel to the students home and tutor in a single subject. In the pandemic days I tutor online using Skype. I tailor tuition lessons to the individual student and review progress and readjust lessons to best improve subject knowledge. I can offer single subjects or combinations of subjects either in 1hr30min lessons or alternate weeks e.g. English Language and English Literature (to the new revised specifications Sept 2020) ..or a combination of English and Mathematics. Just ask for your preferences. I set work according to my tutees needs and commitments and comment on improvements and for exam answers can check work against the Examination Board Mark Schemes. I am a friendly person, I find the best most useful resources or write them personally for my tutees. Education is really important and working at home or catching up really difficult, let me help you and your student/s succeed.

This has been a tough year for education so children need all the help they can get to maintain their progress and achieve their goals. I have 11 years’ experience as a qualified primary teacher so I know how to motivate students and build their self-confidence. Over the years, I have built up an extensive toolbox of tips and strategies to enable students to showcase their knowledge and understanding in tests. I have a First-Class Honours Degree in English from the Open University. After qualifying as a teacher in 2009, I worked as a class teacher in Key Stage 2. In 2013, I became an intervention teacher, working with pupils who require additional support to prepare them for the KS2 SATs tests. I also began tutoring students from the ages of 7-11, helping them to improve their grades in maths and English. I enjoy developing a rapport with students and creating a comfortable learning environment. Having the freedom to make mistakes is vital so I want my students to feel relaxed and supported. I also want them to leave each session with a sense of achievement and this is why I tailor lessons to the specific needs of each learner.

I have been passionate about maths since early childhood. I spent a decade as a fully qualified maths teacher, teaching GCSE maths and A-level (including further maths) to pupils from a wide variety of abilities, backgrounds and cultures. I semi-retired three years ago and have since tutored a number of pupils for A-level and GCSE. I have a first class honours maths degree from Oxford University and a teaching certificate in maths for secondary education. After 20 years spent working in industry, I trained as a secondary school teacher (teaching years 7 to 11), and then spent nearly ten years teaching maths in a post-16 school in the Greenwich Borough. There I taught A-level (both maths and further maths) and also GCSE maths for pupils resitting. A large number of my GCSE resit pupils were successful in raising their grades to a C (or now a 4). Pupils were keen to be in my class. I semi-retired around three years ago and have since tutored A-level and GCSE maths pupils, from a fairly basic level up to A level further maths. I normally do tuition on Saturdays, Sunday afternoons and evenings, and Monday late afternoons / evenings.

I am a former secondary school maths teacher with a true passion for teaching and a love for mathematics. I have worked in the education sector for over 15 years and started tutoring about 13 years ago. As my client base grew I decided to concentrate on tutoring full time, so I no longer work in a school, which allows me the time to give 100% to my students. Most lessons are structured in a similar way to those at school; starting with front of class teaching followed by students working individually through worksheets. During lessons my assistant and I are on hand to provide students with individual help. We also have some informal lessons where they are able to work through exam papers and revision sheets at their own pace. We carry out regular tests and mock exams in our SATs and eleven plus preparation classes in order to help students to improve their timing and exam techniques. I believe homework to be an important part of the learning process helping to consolidate classwork. Homework is given every week and collected the following lesson for marking. Students also have access to online homework, revision videos and mock exams at no additional cost. I offer a free no obligation comsultation in order to gain an understanding of your child's needs and suggest the most appropriate course of action.

Having sat the new 9-1 GCSEs I have experience with these types of exams and I like to use my knowledge to help students who are preparing for such exams. I acheived 9s in 10 subjects at GCSE and I am currently waiting for my A-Level results in Maths, Further maths, Economics and Physics. I not only teach the content of a subject but also the small tricks and tips that helped me to do well in my previous exams that allowed me to study efficiently. I have tutored multiple students across a range of subjects for 2 years now after completion of my GCSEs. Students have gone up 2-3 grades, entering the higher levels over the course of these lessons. I initially assess students to see what level they are working at and then I work through closely to the specification written by the exam board a student has for that subject. This means we cover all the content required for their exam efficiently. This ensures that students are confident for their exams and have sufficient time to revise all their different subjects.
