Hi. I'm Dr Ana Miller. I have a PhD in English literature and ten years of teaching experience at various levels (primary, secondary, GCSE, 'A' levels, university). While my main subject is English, I also have extensive experience within the humanities, teaching media studies, art, history and critical thinking. I am friendly, professional and passionate about my subjects and I believe in encouraging my students to access their enthusiasm to unlock their potential. I believe in an active and student-centred approach to learning whereby I provide the support and expertise that enables my students to play a central role in their own learning and development. My approach is to draw out my students' interest in their subject in order to develop their confidence and ability to engage academically in the most effective way. It is important when teaching to develop this enthusiasm within the structure of the particular syllabus or course outline - I encourage my students to understand and respond to what is being asked of them, whether it be for an assignment, presentation or exam. I also aim to develop my students' ability to respond to and structure ideas and arguments in a logical and clear way.

I know that engaging a tutor can be nerve-wracking. From embarking on a search, to the first session, to exam dates, it can be a fraught experience. But I have the experience and the sensitivity to make this experience smooth, engaging and even enjoyable. I have a wealth of experience, tutoring for almost 5 years, since leaving Cambridge University with a degree in History of Art. My greatest skill lies in being able to put both students and parents at ease, through a combination of engaging activities, pitched at a comfortably challenging level, and delivered with confidence. This is partly helped by the fact that I act and direct alongside my tutoring. I can transform your framework of learning to make objectives manageable and tailored, and to find ways of helping you shape and realise your own ambitions. Using a combination of tested methods of increasing engagement and a constant process of adapting my style to each student, I have achieved remarkable successes with my students. This success includes academic achievements, but I am most proud of the consistency with which I have fostered passion and confidence in the subjects we study together. I love new people, new perspectives and new ways of working, and I look forward to meeting you!

Hi, I am currently finishing a second MA degree in intellectual and art history (Warburg Institute); I studied Classics (Greek and Latin) as an undergraduate and received a first MA in Egyptology (Oxford). While finishing off my masters, I am working as an English tutor teaching year 9 and 10. I am passionate about history, languages, philosophy and literature, and I would be very interested in teaching these and related subjects to prospective students. I am happy to give a free 30-minute lesson so you can see if I am the right tutor for you. During the free lesson, I can also assess key areas that we can work on going forward. Materials and homework are included in each class that I teach, which are tailored to each student. Due to the current situation regarding COVID-19, I am more than happy to teach online via skype etc. This will be at a slightly lower rate. Please do not hesitate to ask me any further questions. Kind regards, Chris.

Hello! My name's Carlos and I'm an Art History and Architectural History graduate from the University of Edinburgh, Scotland. I specialise in rigorous architectural and urban history and theory, and I would be delighted to impart my knowledge to any GCSE, A-Level, or Undergraduate students requiring assistance. When it comes to teaching English as a foreign language, I take an innovative approach that deploys art history as a platform for learning. During my time grasping foreign languages, I found that art was an excellent medium for understanding new vocabulary, alongside improving my presentation skills and comprehending how to talk about very complex, visual, and societal topics. My tutoring style is engaging, enthusiastic, but above all, meticulous. If you would like my assistance, let me know!

My name is Mireia Ludevid and I am an MA Graduate and language enthusiast. I am a Spanish native speaker with 2+ years of experience tutoring children from the ages of 8 to 15. I tutor Spanish and Photography. I believe learning languages is a transformative experience and can help build confidence that can be applied to other subjects and areas of life. Languages help us engage with the world in a profound manner and can help students reach their academic and social goals. In my lessons, I make sure to reinforce positive behavior, teach phonics and reading as well as reinforce lessons presented by teachers by reviewing the material. I graduated with distinction from an MA in Fashion Photography and will start a Ph.D. in Research related to Visual Arts and Linguistics in September. Before that, I studied Art History in Barcelona. In photography lessons, I focus on mastering technique as well as developing a personal style. I teach skills related to film photography, lighting, postproduction and visual research. My studies have allowed me to engage in different styles of learning, which I apply to suit the needs of every student. I am passionate about education and visual arts, especially in languages - I understand that every student's needs are different and can adapt the classes to them.

I am a first class History of Art graduate from the University of Edinburgh, starting an MA in History of Art from the Courtauld Institute in September. Despite being an art historian, I achieved full marks in my English A-Level and I am an avid reader, and have helped local teenagers with their English A-Level in the past. I am very warm, enthusiastic and encouraging , and I think instilling confidence in a tuttee is the most important step to academic success, something I found in my previous experience tutoring English at 11+.
