I grew up with early computers such as the ZX Spectrum, and was writing simple programs from the age of five. Thirty years on, I now have 13 years experience working as a programmer in the videogame industry. I've worked on games that have sold millions, including Rollercoaster Tycoon 3, Kinectimals and Kinect Disneyland Adventures. I am available for individual tuition on: - GCSE and A-Level Computing / Computer Science - Degree-level Computer Science - General purpose programming skills - Game, web and app development The typical structure for my lessons is to do 45 minutes (£33) with a 15 minute break in the middle – this break is helpful to me due to a health condition, but it actually works well for the student too as I can ask them to try a task during the break and then check their work in the second half of the session.

I am a qualified primary teacher with experience teaching and tutoring pupils from year 1 to year 6. Currently, I teach a mixed year 3/4 class during school hours and tutor several students in my spare time. While I specialise in teaching maths, I have strong knowledge of the curriculum so can confidently teach a broad range of subjects and areas. This can include: English (writing, reading, spelling, grammar), Maths, Science. After undertaking extensive volunteering as a PE teacher and finishing my degree in PE, I started to move towards a career in Primary Education. I have a BSc in Maths and I have enjoyed a long career in the life insurance industry as an actuarial manager and then as an executive manager. I now specialise in teaching Maths, especially GCSE revision ... I believe that Maths is not just a school subject, but a life skill that has many applications in our daily lives. I enjoy the challenge of working towards a definite goal, and I am really delighted when my GCSE students improve 1-2 grades over their mocks results. Through one of the schools I work with, I have joined the National Tutoring Program ... I tailor my teaching according to the students' needs. My primary aim is for my students to understand the lesson and then apply their learning to solve word problems. Sometimes I will discover that a student has gaps in their learning, so I will go back to more basic concepts to make sure the student will grasp the current lesson. While I do not like teaching by rote, I will teach my students techniques to pass exams to the best of their ability.

I graduated from the University of Reading with a BSc Psychology degree in 2015. Since then, I have built a breadth of experience supporting children and young people aged 3-18 in educational settings. I have worked as an Assistant Psychologist in primary and secondary schools where I have supported students with a range of needs (including Special Educational Needs) by running 1:1 and group interventions and supporting their teachers. I have received training from specialised Educational Psychologists on topics such as working memory, study skills, coaching, self-esteem, learning difficulties, cognition and executive functioning that I apply in my work.
I have extensive tutoring experience and I tailor each individual session to the varying needs of my students. I work exceptionally hard to provide bespoke, structured and enjoyable sessions with access to carefully prepared resources.
