Hi, I'm Lex. I am a recent graduate from the University of Reading with both a Bachelors Honours degree in English Literature with Creative Writing as well as a Masters of Research degree in Children's Literature. I have a passion for English Literature and am embarking on a PhD in the Autumn. Tutoring Experience I began tutoring in 2019 and have found the experience to be extremely rewarding. I am now looking to help a new cohort of students for the upcoming academic year. I have experience supporting Key Stage 3 and GCSE students in English at a secondary school. During my time at University, I would often help out my peers with their essays in order to help achieve the highest marks. Tutoring Approach I'm very approachable, patient and kind; I find that my passion for the subject shines through onto others. I have a very friendly demeanour and look to guide and encourage students to find their own answers within a text in order to strengthen their understanding.

Furthermore, I enjoy creating challenges for academically gifted students. I can travel to tutor in your home if your child feels most comfortable in their own space. Otherwise, our lessons will be online via Microsoft Teams. Please contact me via email: email@example.com 07975572113 I am available for private lessons on Monday-Friday from 12.30 onwards. I charge £30 for a one hour online lesson. POA for lessons in the student’s home.

I like to plan to go through the curriculum of the subject. I pre plan lessons according to what the child would like to cover most, for example if they are still struggling on a certain topic and would like to go over it again, I am more than happy to do that in the following lesson. I like to create work sheets, definition pages and sample text/exam question enabling them with extra help. I often do end of term/ topic tests to ensure that your child is completely happy and fully understand that particular topic.

I tutor children largely through Year 5 and first term of Year 6 to prepare them for the Reading Boys and Kendrick Grammar Schools. I also prepare for Bluecoat, The Abbey, Leighton Park, The Oratory and Queen Anne's. Apart from motivating, guiding, teaching exam techniques and working in partnership with parents, I try and instill self belief and confidence in the child. Each child is different and has individual needs – the majority of lessons are 1 to 1 but some can be in groups of 2 if that works for you. Regular mock exams hosted throughout the year.
