Private Tutors in Lambeth and Tutoring in Lambeth
Helen is a vibrant, enthusiastic tutor who places emphasis on tutee’s confidence and relationship to education within her structured lessons. She works hard to enable students to think independently and creatively and most importantly, to enjoy their extra study time outside of school. Helen tailors her lessons and teaching style to each individual tutee’s needs ensuring that they can make the most out of the lesson. She has helped several students pass various exams including gaining places on the highly competitive English bilingual program at the Lysee International de Londres. Having been through the 11+ system herself (and gaining scholarships to several schools) Helen understands the pressure and stress of the application and the best ways to make it as enjoyable as possible for tutees and parents alike. She is also experienced teaching SEN, having several long term relationships with dyslexic, dyspraxic and autistic students. Helen specialises in English, exam prep and general study support. She has been a visiting tutor at many educational establishments, including the Pippa Poppins nursery in West London and so has experience teaching across all ages. Her youngest students have been three years old and her oldest are currently in their fifties. Outside of teaching, Helen is an enthusiastic cook, an avid theatre goer and loves going to galleries and taking advantage of the many cultural opportunities in South London and across the city.

Available for online sessions to help students stay on top of their academics during these difficult times. Having taught six year olds through to PhD candidates I've had a very wide range of students and I am confident that I can help them not just maintain their academic performance while they are off school but actually ensure they continue to make strides forward in their learning. Given no travel is involved I am happy to do a lower price for online sessions versus my normal rate (I will not be doing in-person sessions until government restrictions are lifted!).

Hi there! Thanks for taking the time to read my profile. I am a recent graduate from Durham University, where I studied History and Politics achieving a 2:1, and have lots of experience working with children. This ranges from volunteering on a summer camp over 5 years teaching outdoor skills, to the fact that I am currently working in a school in west London as a learning support assistant. I am an enthusiastic and resilient teacher, and am quick to build a rapport with children, which I feel is a crucial aid of the learning process. I am very flexible with what I can teach so do feel free to ask, and am happy to do a couple of trial sessions at a lower rate if you want to see how things go.

My teaching has reading and listening at it's heart. The best thing I have done since coming to London is open my ears to all the styles I didn't like, listen over and over, until they started to grow on me! Music is a cultural and historical lesson as well, it's interesting to see where the popular styles of today came from! Reading will just make you more employable as all the session, musical theatre and holiday camp drummers will tell you! I use software such as Noteflight which allows me to playback scores, making sight reading an easier and more enjoyable process, and meaning I can share scores with students via email. Each student is also given a video recording of what we studied in the lesson, which is a very valuable resource, something they can take away from each lesson, and makes remembering what we learned much easier!

Learning Finance and Statistics can be easy… as long as we take it step by step! This is why for the last 7 years I have been passionate about developing learning techniques to make the lives of university students easier. MSc Financial Economics (Dean’s List) from the University of Oxford, I have been tutoring hundreds of students in Finance, Statistics and other topics since 2014. Here are some of the subjects I have taught in the past: - Corporate Finance - Investments - Financial Mathematics - Derivatives - Financial Accounting - Risk Management - Probability and Statistics - Econometrics - Quantitative Methods - Data Analysis - Microsoft Excel My approach is straightforward: clear, short theory reminders full of examples are followed by a series of practical exercises. The aim is to acquire knowledge gradually, by focusing on one concept at a time. You will be surprised how fast the most complex material can be mastered just by breaking it down into digestible bits! Many university courses tend to ignore this. Rather, they present a large amount of information all at once. This is unrealistic and overwhelming even for top students. Universities also assume that you remember everything you’ve learned prior to your current programme when actually very few people do! As a solution I have compiled summaries of many quantitative and financial concepts and I use them as part of my approach. If you have any enquiries feel free to send me a message!
