A Modern Languages graduate with a PGCE, I have taught French and German for over 40 years and also spent 2 years teaching English in a German Gymnasium. I enjoy working with students who find languages difficult as well as with high fliers who want to realise their full potential. I offer a free consultation meeting and introductory lesson prior to embarking on a programme of tuition with a new student. As I am retired, I am fairly flexible concerning availability but prefer not to teach at the weekend or after 7.30 p.m.

I write material for 11+ tests and am a specialist tutor in this field. I have spent many years as a primary school teacher and as an English teacher at a top prep school, so cover maths, English and the 11+. If you would like to discuss issues surrounding the Kent Test and other 11+ tests around the country, I'd be delighted to help. I am currently looking to finalise my details for September as I find myself booked up well in advance. I have the largest battery of testing material that you will find anywhere as I have all the resources I've written for other organisations as well as that which is commercially available. My teaching style is patient and nurturing, with a strong focus on addressing the particular needs of tutees rather than following any sort of curriculum. The needs of the child supersede those of any tests or exams! I only teach from home as I have a young family, but will work online if required.

I am an experienced teacher with 14 years classroom experience. I believe that children only learn and make progress when they are happy and enjoying their learning. That is what I provide during my tutoring sessions. I like to instill confidence in my students. Help them to feel that they can achieve and they can do well. With a developed passion for learning they can become learners for life. I always start with a free 40minute consultation. I like to establish the aims of the sessions for the parents and their end goal. I also like to build a relationship with the pupil.
I am an enthusiastic teacher with ten years classroom experience teaching English from Years 7 to 13. I am also qualified to also teach English as a foreign language. Language and literature have always fascinated and inspired me - the way we communicate in our daily lives as well as artistically is what first encouraged me to become an English teacher. My second main motivation comes from wanting to help students to achieve their full potential as confident writers, reader and speakers. I see teaching as being as much about encouragement and confidence-building as about imparting knowledge or skills.

I have focused mainly on teaching Functional Skills, GCSE (Foundation/Higher) and KS3 Maths, but can also offer KS2 Maths SATs and Kent Test Maths preparation.
