Samar H
Key stage 1 to A Level Maths tutor in Hammersmith, London
£30.00-50.00Academic tutorI am a junior doctor working in South London at present. I studied medicine at Imperial College London, gaining both an MBBS qualification and an intercalated BSc. Teaching is something that I have remained passionate about throughout my time in secondary school, university and now as a junior doctor. I believe the key to being a good teacher is an eagerness to learn oneself, along with a keen sense of curiosity and intrigue about new subjects. Learning about new things has always filled me with excitement, and this has allowed me to come across fascinating opportunities. For example, my interest in learning about the process of human development allowed me to find an opportunity to carry out research in a fertility lab. I was able to witness with my own eyes the development of a human embryo from a single cell - a real privilege! As another example, I have always been fascinated by physics, particular astrophysics and space exploration. The curiosity to learn more pushed me to search for an opportunity to engage more in this field with my background as a medical professional. After some persistance, I was able to arrange a 3 month research placement with the European Space Agency. As a result I was able to spend 3 months working a few doors away from astronauts such as Tim Peake! I have always had an enthusiasm for learning new things, regardless of the subject. Despite having studied medicine, my interest in other fields has persisted. Even now, I`m trying to become more about computer science whilst holding a full time day job with busy on calls. I am keen to inspire a sense of curiosity in the students I teach. I have had many fascinating conversations with previous students about matters beyond the scope of their subjects, purely because they began to develop a keen enthusiasm for learning. I believe that as long as there is a deep curiosity to know more and a willingness to persist, a person can take their career in any direction they wish and stumble across things truly unique and exciting.

Shivani K
Imperial med student tutoring Maths, Chem, Bio up to A level
£15.00-20.00Academic tutorCurrently I am studying Medicine at Imperial College London and have loved every second of it. It is an extremely rewarding course that presents many challenges and endless learning opportunities. Whilst progressing academically is the priority, it is important to have a work-life balance and get involved in extra-curricular activities; I am part of a dance group and the surgical society at Imperial. The revision period, exams and applying to university is a highly stressful time where students need as much support as possible and going through this experience myself has inspired me to tutor for the last 3 years. With 3 years of tutoring experience and more I have the patience and listening skills necessary for great and rewarding lessons. I will help my students improve most importantly by encouragement, setting expectations and academic targets. I will ensure students have the basic understanding of topics before moving into more detail through good communication and encouragement to ask questions. Furthermore, I can adapt to different learning styles for the student but also introduce them to a learning style they may have not tried before which could be very effective for them. If you are interested then please do get in touch with me and I always offer the first lesson free for the student to decide if i'm the best fit for them and their learning :)

Anna W
GCSE, A Level Chemistry tutor in Hammersmith, Hammersmith and Fulham, London
£35.00-50.00Academic tutorI am a Chemistry PhD student at Imperial College London, having previously completed a Masters and BSc in Chemistry, for which I received the award for the highest overall mark on my course. Even after many years of studying the subject I am enthusiastic about Chemistry and believe that this passion would enhance students’ enjoyment of the subject, in addition to their understanding. I aim to tailor the tutoring sessions to the students’ preference of learning style and needs, this can range from discussing the subject on a walk to focusing on practice questions. I am a patient person who values the importance of fully understanding the content of the course in order to achieve the highest grades. This is especially important as exams change to include more content and test understanding to a greater extent than fact recall. In terms of previous teaching experience, I have held weekly interactive study sessions for undergraduate students and tutored A-Level Chemistry. Please feel free to contact me if you have any questions!
