I can develop your knowledge in biology using simple yet effective explanations to help you fully understand scientific principles rather than just committing words to memory. Since being convinced by my school teacher not to give up on Biology after AS-Level, I have since gone on to pass my A-Level Biology, an undergraduate degree in Biology and a PhD in Medical Sciences. Throughout these degrees and my later experiences working in the biotechnology industry, I have learnt to communicate scientific principles at all levels of education in a simple, yet effective manner to help increase understanding of various concepts.

When Paul earned his 2:1 Honours degree from Sheffield University back in 1979 he’d already been appointed as the UK's youngest lecturer in English. He was 22 and a qualified secondary schoolmaster. At 25 he then became the country’s youngest assistant examiner in English. That was over 40 years ago. Since then he's always earned his living from the language. An educator in the UK and Switzerland he taught royal children and those of the super‐rich. But for the last 30 years he’s been a writer (for several governments and many of the biggest companies in the world) and private tutor. As a lecturer Paul was always driven by exam board marking schemes. In a department of 30 staff, with the poorest students because he was the newcomer, he still entered every student for exams and cheekily signed off their sponsorship. Despite the odds he easily had the highest success‐rate. He trains students to pass but simultaneously coaches them in skills to last a lifetime. No private students, and there have been scores of them, has ever failed any exam for which Paul’s prepared them. Paul has recently written materials spanning the Pearson Edexcel A Level History of Art syllabus.

I have taught German, French and Spanish for 35 years as a private tutor, school teacher, community adult education tutor, company /business language trainer and EFL (English as a Foreign Language) teacher. I offer tuition to Advanced /A-Level and have also worked at the University of Wales (College of Cardiff) and at an international school in Germany. I concentrate mainly on improving the speaking and listening skills of learners, as this builds their confidence in using a language. I also believe that grammar is very important in order to make good progress. However, learning a language is all about USING it, so I do not overburden learners with loads of unnecessary extra work. I like to think that my learners enjoy their lessons and I am totally committed to their progress and building both their competence and confidence. I offer both ‘in person’ and online tuition, am DBS-checked and can provide full references and testimonials.
