Scams targeted at tutors
There have been instances in the past on other websites of people being sent fake cheques from overseas from people claiming to be parents. After an unsuspecting teacher has paid the cheque into their bank, the parent then creates an excuse and asks the tutor to refund part or all of the money. By the time it takes the UK bank to discover that the cheque has bounced, the teacher has already refunded the money to the parent, leaving them out of pocket and liable for fraud charges.
