This is an Independent Tutoring Business providing after-school English and Maths tuition for 6 to 16 year olds in Hillsborough, Sheffield.  The owner is an experienced, qualified teacher and has been tutoring since 1998.

The business is operated by the owner alone, during term time, with some sessions offered during half-term breaks and August, and has an excellent reputation with parents and professionals. The majority of students are obtained by word of mouth and referrals. It has an existing client base, offering immediate income with none of the hassle or uncertainty of starting from scratch.

The business trades from well-equipped premises, benefiting from low rent and rates, and occupying a prominent main road position. The premises consist of teaching room, office, toilet, washroom and storage.  All equipment and furnishings are included in the sale.  Teaching materials have been created and developed by the owner and cover English and Maths from Year 1 to Year 11.  Assessment materials have been created and developed by the owner and cover English, Reading, Spelling, Writing and Maths skills.

Training could be provided for Assessment and Teaching materials.  Business training could also be provided.  The business currently opens for 7 sessions per week with 4 students per session, making a total of 28 students per week.  This provides a gross income of £700.00 per week – approximately £28,000.00 per year.

Annual expenditure is £7,000.00 to £8,000.00 per year.

The business could be expanded in several ways, depending on individual interests:  increasing the number of sessions, days, tutors, subjects or offering daytime tutoring. The owner can offer advice/suggestions on these.
